In the late 90's, Cougar Vigil received his first camera. It was a Minolta X-700 and since then he has documented his life from high school.
Cougar comes from a family of Jicarilla Apache artist. His grandparents are Nossman and Ella Mae Vigil. Vida Vigil, a photographer, and JC Knighthawke, a painter, are his parents.
After studying at the Institute of American Indian Arts and the College of Santa Fe, he received his BFA in Photography in 2009. In his young career he has shown his art work throughout the U.S. including Los Angeles and New York.
He currently lives in northern New Mexico.
